Wirth Design

Meeee

who am i?

My name is Kevin Wirth, I’m a front-end developer/graphic designer living it up to the best of my abilities. I started creating websites as a hobby when I was 13 years old. I’ve always had a passion for the web and learning new things. After I graduated from High School  I attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design. WirthDesign came about in 2006 when I decided to start doing freelance work. With my education I had no problem picking up small jobs and later through networking started getting my feet wet with some bigger projects.

I currently design and develop for ECS Tuning, an online only European performance parts distributor. Though I haven’t been there very long I really enjoy my job and the new experience of working with a team.

skills

Software I have been using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to design for roughly 7 years. I also have experience using Adobe InDesign, Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I can code on anything from Notepad to TextWrangler though I have developed a liking for Panic Coda.

Brainware My coding knowledge contains an expert level of HTML/XHTML an intermediate to advanced level of CSS and a basic understanding of JavaScript,  jQuery and PHP. I specialize in custom WordPress themes and have experience with Joomla.

interests

When I’m not pecking away on a keyboard you’ll normally find me knuckle deep in a plate of food. Good food is something I wasn’t given the inner strength to walk away from. I like doing my share of wrench spinning under the hood of my car and truck. I also love going to car shows whenever given the opportunity.

I’m also 1/3 of an upcoming podcast called Creative Task Force Now, which I will be writing more about in the future. Our goal is to discuss Web Design technologies and throw in a bit of fun. For now you can follow @TaskForceNow on Twitter for more info.
