My name is Kevin Wirth, I’m a front-end developer and graphic designer. I started learning how to create websites as a hobby in 1998. I’ve always had a passion for the web and learning new things. In 2007, I graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a bachelors degree in Industrial Design. Then after college I started getting serious about creating websites for others.
Education is a big part of what I do, and I take pride in my work. There are a lot of people in this field who don’t know what they’re doing. To keep current on best practices for web design I do a lot of reading, social gathering and social networking with like-minded developers.
Software I have been using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to design for roughly 7 years. I also have experience using Adobe InDesign, Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I can code on anything from Notepad to TextWrangler though I have developed a liking for Panic Coda.
Brainware My coding knowledge contains an expert level of HTML/XHTML an intermediate to advanced level of CSS and a basic understanding of JavaScript, jQuery and PHP. I specialize in custom WordPress themes and have experience with Joomla.
When I’m not pecking away on a keyboard, you’ll normally find I’m listening to music, playing Xbox, watching movies or working on cars. I’m a huge fan of nu-metal, metalcore and alternative music. I own three guitars but they’re mostly for decoration. I like watching movies of all genres some of my recent favorites are Sucker Punch, 300 and The Wedding Crashers.
I’ve always liked taking things apart and learning about how things work. This natural interest has extended into all the things I do, so I am a bit of a generalist.
