This is a project I did in 2012 while I worked at ECS Tuning. Alzor Wheels is a sister company that was created to sell high end looking wheels at a more affordable price point. I was provided a logo and a couple brand colors as well as a folder of vehicle and wheel photos. This project had a short timeline for it to be released. Because I had experience building standalone websites, I was picked for this project. The stakeholders were internal and included the Director of Marketing Manager and CEO.
I went with a very safe and simple layout for this website. In 2012 many websites were using a layout with a gallery in the “hero” module of the website. The listings below the gallery were somewhat mandated by Joomla ,the framework the website was built on, and that ended up just being a thumbnail and short description text.
This is another variation of the home page that included the addition of a “new” product landing page, a gallery page showing vehicles with the wheels installed and a news landing page.
I built two examples of the product detail page, one for each make of car. Because we had very high quality photos that were taken in-house, I chose to photoshop these images so that you could see what these wheels looked like on a car. This involved a lot of coordination between my design and coding to make sure everything was the right size and aligned. As you clicked on a wheel product it would show you the wheels on the car, product name, description, gallery of available images and a technical specification of what variations of those wheels existed.
This is another variation of the product detail page. I added a lot more wheels to this format to see how many we would have before the layout needed to adapt. I also experimented with giving the main product a more edgy looking background.
